How we work

Biodynamic farming, without the mystery

by Clémence Grézeau

We began the conversion in 2014 and gained Demeter certification in 2022. What biodynamic farming actually changes in our vines.

When we took over the estate in 2014, the soils were tired: decades of weedkilling had compacted them, and the roots stayed near the surface. We began the conversion to biodynamic farming that same year. Demeter certification came in 2022, after eight years of work.

In practice, it means living soils: a cover of grasses and flowers between the rows, compost made on the estate, plant preparations (nettle, horsetail, yarrow) sprayed in small doses. No weedkiller, no synthetic fertiliser, no systemic products. Copper and sulphur only when the season demands it.

We will not talk to you about the cosmos. What interests us can be seen in the vines: roots that go down to find water between the pebbles, vines that come through dry summers better, grapes that keep their acidity. And, in the end, wines with more tension and more salinity.

« Biodynamic farming does not make the wine for us. It makes us look at the vines every day. »

It is also what we show you during the visit: the rows first, where you can see the difference between a compacted soil and a living one, then the cellar. By appointment, Tuesday to Saturday.
