Tasting notes

Les Galets is a blend of two plots on the south-facing side of the hillsides, where the rolled pebbles break the surface. These pale stones, left behind by an ancient riverbed, store the heat of the day and give it back to the grapes until dusk.

Syrah and Grenache are picked by hand and partly destemmed — a third of whole bunches brings crunch and a peppery freshness. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, with the estate's own native yeasts and no additives. Six months of ageing in vat is enough: this wine does not need oak to speak.

The nose opens on blackberry and fresh blackcurrant, then sun-warmed stone. The palate is juicy, the tannins fine, the finish saline. A red for thirst and for the table, to drink young or to forget for two or three years.

Food pairing: perfect with grilled duck breast or a Provençal daube, it also goes very well with a board of mature cheeses (ewe's milk tomme, aged goat's cheese) or simple summer barbecue.
